THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the rains will intensify in the northern districts of the state. The IMD has informed that Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam are likely to experience heavy rain at isolated places and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph.
Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Idukki, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts are likely to experience moderate rain at isolated places and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph. The IMD has informed that light rain is also possible at isolated places in Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Orange alert has been issued in five districts as heavy rain continues at various places. Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are predicted to experience heavy rain. Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad are on yellow alert.
A holiday has been declared for educational institutions in Kasaragod, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Pathanamthitta, Kannur, Ernakulam, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Idukki and Alappuzha. The Public Service Commission (PSC) has informed that the exams starting today and scheduled till August 2 have been postponed. The revised date will be notified. The Kerala University has also postponed today’s exams.
