Karkidaka Vavu Bali 2024: Lakhs of people to swarm temples for Bali Tharpanam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Karkidaka Vavu Bali rituals will take place today as thousands are expected to swarm temples across the state to pay obeisance to the departed ancestors in their families. Lakhs of people came for Bali Tharpanam in temples, beaches and river banks from two in the morning. It will last until noon. Due to adverse weather conditions, the Devaswom department has prepared special security at the river banks. The services of the fire force and scuba team have also been ensured at danger-prone river banks.

The Travancore Devaswom Board has deputed 500 Devaswom staff and 600 temporary staff on duty at Thiruvallam Parashuram Temple, Aluva Shiva Temple, Varkala Janardhanaswamy Temple, Thirumullavaram Temple, and Kadinamkulam Temple for the Vavubali ceremonies. 260 priests will preside over the ceremonies in these temples.
