CM Pinarayi Vijayan contributes one lakh rupees, wife Kamala hands over Rs 33,000 to Wayanad relief fund

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family contributed money for the rehabilitation process in Wayanad. Chief Minister gave one lakh rupees while his wife Kamala handed over Rs 33,000 to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

The Chief Minister has informed that the cause of the tragedy will be investigated. Almost 148 dead bodies have been handed over to their relatives while 67 unidentified bodies will be cremated in the public graveyard on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will build 100 houses while Opposition leader VD Satheesan promised 25 houses and appealed for more donations from people. Shobha Group will build 50 houses while Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi promised to construct 100. Mohanlal’s ViswaSanthi Foundation will hand over three crore rupees. Kozhikode Business Club will build 40 houses.

Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala will donate one month's salary to the Chief Minister's relief fund. In addition, business tycoon Bobby Chemmannur announced on Friday that land for building houses would be given free of cost to a hundred families. Director and Bigg Boss star Akhil Marar came forward to build three houses for victims' families in Wayanad.
