Expat nurse jumped off building due to personal issues; body brought home

RIYADH: The body of an Indian nurse who committed suicide by jumping off a building in Riyadh has been brought home. Puducherry native Durga Ramalingam (26), who was working as a nurse in a private hospital in Riyadh, committed suicide on July 13.

Durga committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of the building where she lived. It is said that she committed suicide due to some personal issues. The body was kept at the mortuary of Shumaisi Hospital.

The hospital authorities contacted social activist Shihab Kottukad to bring the dead body home. The body was brought to Puducherry the other day after completing the procedures with the help of the Indian Embassy.

Durga started her expat life just a year ago. According to her colleagues, she always appeared very happy. However, her father Ramalingam died in an accident around 3 months ago. Her friends said that Durga was under severe mental stress ever since the death of her father.
