IMD issues warning to people of five districts in state tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is no special warning of rain in any district of the state today. However, yellow alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Malappuram tomorrow.


Yellow alert has been announced in five districts on Monday and Tuesday. The IMD has informed that heavy rain is expected in isolated places. Fishing has been banned on the Kerala coast from Monday.


Warning of high waves
The National Center for Oceanography and Oceanography (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of 1.7 to 2.1 meters high wave and storm surge along the Tuticorin coast of Tamil Nadu on 10-08-2024 till 05.30 pm. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should exercise special caution.

1 As the rough seas are likely to intensify, people should stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

2. Keep fishing vessels safely moored in the harbour. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

3. Avoid trips to the beach and activities at sea completely.
