Burying new-born baby in Thakazhi: Body found; two days old, says police

ALAPPUZHA: The body of the newborn baby buried by the mother's boyfriend and his friend has been found in Thakazhi. The body was found in Kunnumma during the evidence collection with the accused. Alappuzha SP Chaitra Teresa John told the media that it has not been confirmed whether the incident was a murder.
The baby's body was found near the south bund of Kollanadi paddy field. The first accused Thomas Joseph pointed out the place where the body was hidden to the police. The police said that more will be clear after the post-mortem. The inquest at the place where the body was found has been completed.
'The dead body was found in a buried state. The body was found at the same spot revealed by the accused. It cannot be said whether it was a murder. The dead body is more than two days old. The body will be shifted to Alappuzha Medical College. Currently, two people are in custody. The baby's mother is under observation. The current conclusion is that the parents of the mother are not aware of the incident'- said the SP.
The baby's mother is a twenty-two-year-old unmarried woman and her boyfriend is Thomas Joseph (24). His friend Ashok Joseph (23), a native of Alappuzha Takazhi, was also involved in burying the baby's body.
