IDUKKI: Minister Roshy Augustine said that there is no need to worry about the Mullaperiyar Dam and that people should avoid spreading unnecessary propaganda. Speaking to the media after a meeting held at the Idukki Collectorate, the minister said that the authorities will take adequate precautions if the dam has to be opened.

"The matters will be analyzed under the leadership of the District Collector. A special team has been appointed for this purpose. Kerala's demand is that we want a new dam in Mullaperiyar. Everyone is united in this regard regardless of party politics. There is a case between Tamil Nadu and Kerala regarding this. We hope that the honourable Supreme Court will issue a favourable and auspicious order for Kerala very soon. In addition, we are also checking whether the matter can be resolved outside the court," the minister said.

"Dam management system should be implemented effectively. For this, coordination at the officer level will be further strengthened. The police will be instructed to take action against fake campaigns made through social media. Voggers triggering panic among people will be regulated. At present, there is nothing to worry about," the minister added.
