Restrictions on special darshans at Guruvayur temple on Ashtami Rohini day; know darshan and Prasadaoottu timings

GURUVAYUR: Devaswom Chairman Dr VK Vijayan informed that priority will be given to devotees standing in general queues for the Ashtami Rohini festival in Guruvayur temple.

From Nirmalya Darshanam (first darshan), devotees in the public queue will be directed to the temple. Pradakshinam, Shayana Pradakshinam and Adi Pradakshinam will be avoided. Restrictions have been imposed on VIP and special darshans from 6 am onwards.

Darshan for senior citizens will be from 4:30 am to 5:30 am and 5 to 6 pm only. Natives can have darshan at the allotted time. Rest of the time it will be the general queue line system. Darshan facility will be provided to the children who have finished Choroon.

Special dishes including the special paal payasam will be served during Prasadaoottu. Prasadaoottu will start at nine o'clock in the morning. The queuing for Prasadaoottu will be closed at 2 PM. Prasadaoottu will take place at the temporary pandal adjacent to Annalakshmi Hall and Sri Guruvayoorappan Auditorium on the south side. Food will be prepared for 25,000 people. Prasadaoottu alone costs Rs 25.55 lakh and special dishes Rs 2.07 lakh.

Up to 15 sheets of appam

7.25 lakh appams will be prepared on Ashtami Rohini day. The rate is Rs.35. A maximum appam of Rs.525 (15 sheets) per person can be ordered through the temple counter. Appam offering has been fixed at 10 sheets per person through the counter for the 25th. Paal payasam worth 8.08 lakhs will also be prepared.
