THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central Meteorological Department has warned that there will be heavy rain in various districts of the state. As a result of cyclonic circulation and low pressure area, Kerala is expected to receive widespread rainfall for five days.
A low pressure belt has formed from south Gujarat coast to south Kerala coast. A strong low pressure is located over South East Uttar Pradesh and North East Madhya Pradesh. It is likely to move westwards and strengthen as a depression over West Madhya Pradesh by August 26. Then it will move to Rajasthan and Gujarat region.
Cyclone formed over North Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a low pressure soon. As a result of this, there is a possibility of widespread rain in Kerala for the next five days. Central Meteorological Department informs that there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places from August 24 to 28.
The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Kannur and Kasaragod districts in the next three hours. Yellow alert has been announced in Kannur and Kasaragod districts today. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
