KOLKATA: Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the Kolkata doctor rape and murder case confessed some horrific incidents during the polygraph test. He revealed more information while he was subjected to the polygraph test. He confessed to have molested another woman on the day the 31-yar-old doctor of RG Kar Hospital was raped and murdered.
On the night the doctor was raped, Sanjay visited two red light areas with his friend. He molested a woman on the streets. The police have got the CCTV footage of this. During the lie detector test, he confessed that he had a video call with his girlfriend and asked her for nude pictures.
On August 8, he went to the hospital to meet his friend's brother admitted in the hospital. After coming out of the hospital around 11.15 pm, the two bought liquor and drank on the road. Then they reached Sonagachi, a red-light area in Kolkata. When they were unsuccessful, the two reached Chetla, another red-light area in Kolkata.
A girl was sexually molested on the road while going to Chetla. In Chetla, when his friend had sex with a woman, Sanjay Roy stayed outside and called his girlfriend on a video call. He asked his girlfriend for nude pictures on the phone and she sent them.
Later, Sanjay and his friend returned to the hospital and the accused went to the trauma center on the fourth floor. At 4.03 am, CCTV footage of Sanjay going to the corridor near the seminar hall on the third floor has been obtained.
The accused reached the seminar hall and strangled and raped the doctor who was sleeping there. Then he went to the house of Kolkata police officer and friend Anupam Dutta.
The police have confirmed the places where Sanjay and his friend went at night with the help of call data records. Kolkata Police arrested Roy (33) on August 10, shortly after the body of the trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College. A Bluetooth device found near the doctor's body led to his arrest. The CCTV footage also captured him standing on the third floor of the hospital where the seminar hall is located.
The accused was close to some top officials of the Kolkata Police. The CBI had earlier informed the Supreme Court that the local police tried to hide the rape and murder of the doctor. On August 13, the Kolkata High Court ordered the transfer of the investigation from the Kolkata Police to the CBI.
