THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan has called for actor and MLA Mukesh to resign, placing the responsibility of the decision on both Mukesh and his party, the CPM. Satheesan emphasized that the CPM is complicit, as numerous allegations continue to emerge against its members.

"Mukesh should resign, but the decision lies with him and the party he represents, the CPM," Satheesan stated. "The CPM is the accused in this matter, as more cases keep surfacing. Our organizations, including the Mahila Congress, are actively protesting. Mukesh must step down, just as we previously demanded of Ranjith."

Satheesan also criticized the CPM for protecting individuals facing repeated allegations, pointing out that Mukesh remains a member of the Cinema Policy Formulation Committee, which was established in 2023 with ten appointed members. Two members have since stepped down. The committee was tasked with submitting a report within two months, specifically to study the Hema Committee report and make recommendations.

"Then Mukesh and others read the Hema Committee report," Satheesan continued. "However, the Hema Committee had advised the government not to release the report. Instead, it was read to the accused. What has the government done?"
