SP Sujith Das suspended from service on recommendation of home department

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pathanamthitta SP Sujith Das has been suspended in the phone conversation controversy with Nilambur MLA. Reports said the order in this regard will be issued soon. The home department had recommended action against the SP. The investigation report stated that service rules were violated. The DGP handed over the report of DIG Ajeetha Beegum to the government saying that the incident is a disgrace to the entire police force.


SP Sujith Das has been in controversy in the name of his phone conversation with Nilambur MLA P V Anwar and in the incident of chopping trees from Malappuram SP office compound. Sujith Das, who remains the district police chief of Pathanamthitta, had taken a three-day leave and stayed away. A departmental investigation was started when the phone conversation with P V Anwar requesting to exclude him from the complaint that occurred while he was Malappuram SP. He later went on leave.

The controversy started when the audio recording of the conversation mentioning serious allegations against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar surfaced. A teak and a mahogany tree were chopped. Sujith Das, who went to meet the ADGP, was not given permission. When SP's controversial phone conversation came out the other day, the chief minister had sought a report from the home department. According to that, the report was given yesterday. He took charge as the district police chief of Pathanamthitta on August 16.
