End of Mohanlal era? Bigg Boss Malayalam may get new host next season

Controversies in Mollywood are breaking the roof with Mohanlal bearing the brunt for all wrongs happening in the industry. Amidst this comes another rumour on social media.

It is being said that actor Mohanlal will soon step down as the host of Bigg Boss in Malayalam and will pass the baton to actress Mamta Mohandas. In Tamil, Vijay Sethupathi is set to host the show replacing veteran Kamal Haasan from this year.

The rumour has already evoked mixed reactions in social media with many lamenting the loss of Mohanlal’s charisma and peaceful demeanour that has solved many crises within the house, in a canter. Some are apprehensive about Mamta's capability to match the might and grace of the superstar. Some contrarian voices demanded the actress be a contestant in the show rather than hosting it. Not many are aware of the fact that Mamta has been an excellent host, even a decade back, and may not face difficulty in filling Mohanlal's shoes.

Some other people rooted for Suresh Gopi to take the reins of the show from Mohanlal as they even predicted the union minister to be a better host material than Mohanlal.

Albeit the mixed take on the issue, some Mohanlal enthusiasts are relieved about the actor’s decision to drop the anchor role, which in recent years saw much criticism coming his way, just because of the nature of the show.

If the rumour turns a reality, Mamta will be the third woman anchor in the show’s history in India. Previously, Farah Khan and Shilpa Shetty have hosted the show in Hindi.
