Mammootty celebrates his birthday in Chennai, wishes pour in from fans and well-wishers

CHENNAI: Malayalam cinema's megastar Mammootty celebrated his 73rd birthday on Saturday as wishes poured in from the film fraternity, fans, and well-wishers. The star, whose illustrious film career spans over five decades, celebrated his birthday with his family in Chennai. A video clip of Mammootty cutting his birthday cake and giving it to his son Dulquer Salmaan and granddaughter Mariyam is going viral on social media.

On Friday night, a group of enthusiastic fans gathered outside Mammootty's residence in Kochi, eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of their favourite star and wish him a happy birthday. Mammootty, known for his kind gestures, didn't disappoint them. He surprised them by making a video call to one of the fans and sharing moments from his birthday celebration in Chennai. The fans, thrilled to receive the call, conveyed their heartfelt birthday wishes to him over the phone, making it a memorable and special moment for both the star and his admirers.

Film personalities conveyed their birthday wishes to Mammootty directly and through social media. Notably, actor Mohanlal shared a heartfelt wish by posting a photo of himself affectionately kissing Mammootty, accompanied by the caption 'Happy Birthday Ichakka'.

Mammootty went to Chennai after wrapping up his portions for the upcoming film 'Dominic and the Ladies Purse', helmed by renowned director Gautham Menon. The film's first-look poster was unveiled yesterday. After the birthday celebrations, Mammootty will fly abroad with his family.
