THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amidst persistent allegations and criticism that the Chief Minister is protecting them, a Vigilance investigation has been initiated against ADGP Ajith Kumar and SP Sujith Das, who is currently under suspension due to various complaints, including gold smuggling.
The Vigilance investigation will focus on the financial allegations levelled against Ajith Kumar, including the acquisition of unauthorized wealth and acceptance of bribes. The Chief Minister has approved DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib's recommendation for a Vigilance probe. The complaints have been forwarded to the Vigilance headquarters. The investigation will begin as soon as Vigilance Chief Yogesh Gupta returns from leave. Yogesh holds the rank of DGP. A case will be registered if irregularities are found during the preliminary investigation.
SP KL Johnkutty of the Thiruvananthapuram First Special Investigation Unit will investigate the allegations against Sujith Das.
An Ernakulam native had lodged a complaint with the Vigilance demanding an investigation into the allegation made by PV Anvar that ADGP Ajith Kumar is building a mansion in Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram. The complaint was forwarded to the Chief Minister for permission to initiate an investigation. During a press conference, PV Anvar had revealed the details of the house located on Palace Avenue, near the Kowdiar Golf Club. Anvar had also filed a complaint with the DGP.
Sujith's phone conversation, in which he said he would be subservient to Anwar if the complaint against him was withdrawn, had caused embarrassment for the police force. Anwar had alleged that Sujith's DANSAF squad was involved in stealing the majority of the gold seized at the Karipur airport. Customs initiated an investigation against Sujith after discovering that up to 300 grams of gold was missing from every kilogram of gold seized. He was suspended for a serious breach of conduct.

There is a mafia behind Anvar, alleges Ajith Kumar
Ajith Kumar arrived at the police headquarters yesterday morning and denied all allegations before the DGP. It is understood that Ajith has claimed that there were some external forces behind PV Anvar. He expressed his suspicion that there is a conspiracy involving gold smugglers, hawala operators, drug cartels, and banned terrorist organizations. Ajith claimed that the allegations against him were an act of revenge for his actions. He further stated that if the allegations are proven to be false, legal action should be taken against those who raised them. He also handed over some evidence to the DGP.
Later, at around 6:40 pm, PV Anvar also arrived at the police headquarters and met the DGP. It is indicated that he provided written details about Ajith Kumar's controversial RSS meeting. This will also be investigated.
