NEW DELHI: AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that he will resign from the post of Chief Minister within two days. Kejriwal confirmed that he will sit on the CM chair only after seeking the people's mandate again. Kejriwal announced this while addressing the party workers after he was released on bail in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam case.
'Aam Aadmi Party has God's blessings. I will go to every house and every street to talk with people. The people's opinions matter. Until the people make their decision, I won’t sit in the CM chair. If you people feel that Kejriwal is an honest worker, vote for me in large numbers. I want the people’s decision to sit in the CM’s chair."
Kejriwal called for an early Delhi election and demanded that polls be held in Delhi along with the Maharashtra elections in November. As of now, Kejriwal has his tenure until February 2025. A meeting of MLAs will be held to select the new chief minister of Delhi within two days. Kejriwal ruled out chances of Manish Sisodia becoming the new CM of the state. Kejriwal asked the opposition party leaders not to resign even if they go to jail over BJP's 'scare tactics'.
Despite getting bail, Kejriwal was not allowed to enter the Chief Minister's office or take any decision on any official document. The shocking news of resignation has put many supporters in a faze. Many are pleading with the AAP leader to retract the decision.
