Man kills self after poisoning wife, two children in Nileswaram

NILESWARAM: A 54-year-old man in Nileshwaram Thattacherry hanged himself to death after poisoning his wife and two children. Thattacherry native Vijayan (54) died in the incident.

Vijayan’s wife Lakshmi, and children Layana (18) and Vishal (16) were admitted to Mangalore KS Hegde Hospital in critical condition. The incident happened around 10 pm on Sunday. The incident took place at Lakshmi’s house in Poothakkal. Late into the night, Lakshmi and the children started experiencing stomach pain and vomited in front of the house which alarmed the neighbours.

In the ensuing inspection, neighbours found Vijayan’s dead body on the backside of the house. It was found that he fell on the ground after the rope hanging him broke. The residents said that Vijayan, a goldsmith, was going through a severe financial crisis lately.
