NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) asked party MP Swati Maliwal to resign following her controversial remarks against Delhi chief minister-designate Atishi. Swati Maliwal came forward severely criticising for recommending Atishi for the post of chief minister of Delhi. Swati's criticism was that Atishi's parents fought to save Afzal Guru, the accused in the Parliament attack case, from death penalty.
In a video shared on social media, Swati Maliwal said
‘Today is an unfortunate day for Delhi. A woman like Atishi is going to be made the chief minister of Delhi. Her family fought to save the terrorist Afzal Guru from death penalty. Atishi's parents have repeatedly submitted mercy pleas to the President saying that Afzal Guru is innocent, should not be hanged and is a victim of a political conspiracy.'
'What a mistake this is. Today Atishi will become the chief minister, but will be a dummy CM. Still, this is an important topic. If she becomes chief minister, it will not only affect the security of Delhi but the entire country. May God save the people from such a chief minister. '
After Swati's criticism, senior AAP leader Dilip Pandey came forward. He criticized Swati, who came to Parliament as an AAP MP, for reading the BJP's script. Swati got ticket to Rajya Sabha from AAP. However, the script to respond was taken from the BJP. If she is a little ashamed, she should resign as MP. Pandey also criticized that a path should be found from the BJP to the Rajya Sabha.
