NEW DELHI: The Travancore Devaswom Board has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Kerala High Court's decision to appoint Home Department Additional Secretary CV Prakash as Commissioner of the Devaswom Board. In its plea, the Board claimed that the High Court's bench was encroaching on its powers.

A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and PB Varale considered the petition today and ordered notices to be issued to the opposing parties, including the state government. Although the Devaswom Board demanded a stay on the High Court order, the apex court stated that it would take a decision after hearing what the opposing parties had to say.
