Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh named new Air Force Chief

NEW DELHI: The central government has appointed Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh as the new Air Force Chief. Currently serving as the Vice Chief of Air Staff, Singh will take over the role after Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhary retires on September 30.

Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh joined the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot in December 1984. With nearly 40 years of service, he has led numerous critical missions. He headed the project management team for the upgrade of MiG-29 fighter jets in Moscow. He also played a pivotal role in inducting Tejas fighter jets into the Indian Air Force. He also served as the Project Director of the National Flight Test Centre. He has held several prestigious positions, including Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Air Command and Air Defence Commander of South Western Air Command.
