NEW DELHI: The state government has decided to strongly oppose actor Siddique's anticipatory bail plea in the Supreme Court in the sexual assault case. The government will present strong evidence against Siddique. Government prosecutor Nishe Rajan Shankar has consulted with renowned advocate and former Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar regarding the matter. Ranjit Kumar will be representing the state in the Supreme Court.

Case files from the Advocate General's office will be urgently flown to Delhi. It is indicated that important documents have also been faxed to Delhi. Crucial evidence gathered so far in the case will be submitted to the court.

Meanwhile, Siddique has repeated the same arguments, previously rejected by the High Court, in his petition filed in the Supreme Court. In his petition, Siddique stated that the complainant had been levelling allegations against him through social media since 2019. He stated that the complainant's statements were contradictory and that there was no evidence to prove that he had threatened her in any manner.

Siddique's arguments

  • The case is a result of the dispute between the film industry's 'AMMA' and WCC (Women in Cinema Collective) organizations, claims Siddique's petition. The complainant is an active member of WCC
  • I am a 65-year-old senior citizen. I am willing to cooperate with the investigation and will not influence the witnesses
  • I have no intention of destroying evidence. I am open to any bail conditions
