MALAPPURAM: Malappuram district police chief ordered to arrange security to P V Anwar MLA's house. The action was on the complaint lodged by Anwar to the DGP. As part of security, the police have set up a picket post near his house. P V Anwar filed an application claiming that there was a threat to his life and property and that police protection was required.
Anwar's house is in Othayi coming under Edavanna police station. One officer and three CPOs have been posted for 24-hour duty. The order said that two police officers from DHQ, one officer and CPO from Nilambur sub-station and one officer from Edavanna police station must be present.
The operation of the picket post should be monitored by Nilambur Sub Divisional Officer. The order also said that the picket post should be inspected by the station night patrol officers and sub-division check officers.
The police had registered a case against around 100 CPM activists in the incident of shouting slogans and protesting against Anwar in Nilambur. During the protest, slogans were raised that if Govindan mash says, his hands and feet would be cut off and thrown into the river. The demonstration took place while holding up the banner saying 'Don't touch the red flag'. Anwar's effigy was also burnt at the end of the protests.
The CPM had organized demonstration and political briefing meeting in Edavanna too. Even during this demonstration, slogans of killing were raised against Anwar. The protest said that his hands would be chopped if he turned against leaders and if comes against the movement would retaliate.
