48 years of film career; Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Mithun Chakraborty

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty has been conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the country's highest film honour. The official announcement was made by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Veshna. "Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor, Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema," the minister wrote on his X-page. The award will be presented at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony to be held on October 8, 2024.

Mithun Chakraborty, who started his film career in 1976, still holds a place among film buffs. Mithun Chakraborty is an actor who has created many fans across India with films like Disco Dance, Jung, Prem Pratigya, Pyar Jhukta Nahi and Dalaal. Mithun Chakraborty was last seen in the Bengali film Kabuliwala, which was released in December 2023.
