Popular Malayalam actor Santhosh Nair died on Wednesday in a tragic road accident near Adoor. The Malayalam industry was not prepared for the tragic news, which was evident from the response of many actors. Santhosh, the 65-year-old imposing figure from the industry since the early 80s, was a rambunctious presence who even appeared in the latest superhit Mohiniyattam. It was only a week ago that Santhosh’s interview went viral on social media.

Even superstars, including Mohanlal, penned an emotional note on social media to reminisce about his camaraderie with Santhosh, which began in college times.

However, many eyes were turned to the cause that led to Santhosh’s death in the accident. Trauma-induced cardiac arrest is not commonly heard of, but it is deemed dangerous. According to experts, a road accident victim suffers from trauma due to the loss of blood, depriving the brain of its ability to give signals for breathing. This would end in the heart rhythm failing. This oxygen loss leads to uneven heart rhythms and can lead to cardiac arrest.

Doctors say that the sudden chest pain, confusion or unconsciousness at the time of the accident are symptoms that the victim is moving towards cardiac arrest. A CPR and defibrillator at this hour could revive a patient from the throes of death.
