KOZHIKODE: Minister R Bindu has criticised the Supreme Court verdict preventing the arrest of actor Siddique in the sexual assault case. Speaking to the media in Kozhikode, the minister said that the Supreme Court, as the country's paramount justice seat, has a responsibility to stand with women.
"No court should deny justice due to the delay in filing complaints. If the accused has misbehaved with women, he deserves exemplary punishment. As the country's paramount justice seat, the Supreme Court has the responsibility to stand with women," the minister said.
Earlier today, the Supreme Court had granted anticipatory bail to actor Siddique in the sexual harassment case, subject to certain conditions. The apex court said that the trial court can decide on the bail conditions. The Supreme Court's verdict stays the actor's arrest for two weeks. Siddique had approached the Supreme Court after the High Court denied him anticipatory bail in the case.
