Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has rejected the exit polls predicting a majority for the Congress in the assembly elections. The chief minister said that the BJP will form the government in the state for the third time with an absolute majority.
Nayab Singh Saini also came down heavily on the Congress. "We will form the government on October 8. The Congress will blame the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for their defeat. The BJP government worked for all sections without any discrimination. Based on this, the party will form the government with an absolute majority," he said. "Exit polls have their own system, but our leaders have a direct connection with the people. The people of Haryana want the BJP to come to power for the third time," he said.
Exit polls released yesterday predicted that the Congress will return to power in Haryana after a gap of 10 years. Most of the exit polls have predicted that the Congress will get more than 50 seats in the 90-member Assembly in Haryana. 45 seats are required for a majority. There are indications that the Congress-National Conference alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, which has 90 seats, will find it difficult to cross the absolute majority mark of 46. There is a possibility of a hung cabinet here.
