Cine serial actress Sini Prasad has been in the film industry for over a decade. A handful of cameo appearances in movies and pivotal roles in serials make her a household name. However, Sini still regards the Malayalam film industry to be ungrateful to people coming from theatre background.
"All the actors were staying in the hotel for the shooting of a serial. After two o'clock in the night, the controller of the serial knocked on my door. I opened and enquired about his late-night intrusion. However, he made a quick exit saying he knocked on the wrong door. Just a few minutes later, the same man started calling me through the hotel phone. Fed up with this, I moved the phone receiver to get a proper sleep.
There was also a trend of artists staying in hotels subjected to vulgar jibes on the set when they appeared the next day for shooting. Many of these uncouth trends have changed in the industry.
Years ago, I got an opportunity to play the role of a teacher in an hour-long film called 'Pallikudam'. After a television program, I reached the movie location at night. I acted in one scene and the rest were meant to be shot the next day. The actors were accommodated in a hotel in Alappuzha. I was given a room to be shared with another female artist.
After some time, the producer of the film barged into our room and talked for some time. It was getting late and I requested him to give us some space to sleep since we were tired. Just a few minutes later, the woman artist in my room went out and the movie director came in. He never uttered a word but got onto the bed. I didn’t know what to do and started crying. This made him leave the room in a hurry.
The next day, many of the artists in our hotel were taken to the shooting set for their scenes but I had to wait languorously. Soon it was known that most of the scenes written for me were changed. Soon the news arrived... I have been fired.
I have acted in 32 films, but most people recognize me for that three-minute sequence with legendary actor Mohanlal in‘Bhramaram’s movie. The movie was released to a rousing reception, few people came to me and held my hands for a long time. They were doing that only because actor Mohanlal had held my hands in the movie. I was speechless.”
