THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Friday said that the explanation given by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in his letter is full of contradictions. The Governor criticised the CM by reading out his letter publicly in front of the media.
"I'm not able to understand the Chief Minister's explanation. He stated in his letter that no anti-national forces are operating in the state. I'll believe him. However, in the very same letter, he stated that gold smuggling happening in the state is a crime against the country. There is a contradiction between these two statements," the Governor said.
"The Chief Minister agreed to give a reply only when officials were summoned to the Raj Bhavan. This is a serious matter. The Chief Minister is unwilling to come to the Raj Bhavan and is not allowing others to visit the Raj Bhavan. The CM is not sending the officials to Raj Bhavan as he has something to hide. From now on, the Chief Secretary and DGP need not come to the Raj Bhavan," the Governor said.
"Crime against the country is another section. Hence, I won't say anything more on this. This isn't a regular law and order issue that can be normally handled. That's why I asked the Chief Secretary and DGP to appear directly. It's the Chief Minister's responsibility to provide the information requested by the Governor, but he's not willing to provide details regarding his letter," he added.
