THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary MV Govindan said that Governor Arif Mohammad Khan should not try to scare Kerala. Addressing a press conference, he said that Kerala has witnessed even bigger scares before and Kerala has overcome all of them.
"The governor's term ended on September 5. The tenure has not been renewed. He is continuing under the constitutional provision that he can continue till his successor arrives. He has only the rank of caretaker and is taking the wrong steps. It is unconstitutional for the Governor to declare that he has no faith in the Chief Minister. All the plays staged with PV Anvar in the lead collapsed like a palace of cards. Anvar, who came to the fore declaring that he is expressing the sentiments of the party workers, is in a situation where he has to address the Jamaat-e-Islami, SDPI and League organisations," Govindan said.
Meanwhile, the CPI state council accused Governor Arif Mohammad Khan of violating all limits of morality and democratic norms by brazenly stepping in to subvert the federal principles envisaged in the Constitution. "The Governor has set a worst precedent by constantly attacking the government elected by the people of the state and interfering in the day-to-day administration," the council said.
