THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the state will continue to receive heavy for the next three days. The IMD has issued a warning, advising caution due to the possibility of landslides and flash floods. The heavy rainfall is caused by the influence of two cyclonic circulations formed over the Bay of Bengal, one near the Tamil Nadu coast and another over southwestern West Bengal.
Central and southern districts will receive heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Heavy rainfall was recorded in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts yesterday. Today, yellow alerts have been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur districts. People living in hilly areas are advised to exercise caution due to the possibility of landslides and flash floods. Fishing has been prohibited along Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts. Coastal residents should be vigilant due to potential sea incursions.
