KANNUR: Sunny Joseph MLA said the government should order a probe on the death of ADM K Naveen Babu. He said Kannur district president P P Divya attended the sendoff function uninvited hosted the other day.

‘The farewell was given to ADM in a meeting where none of the people's representatives were invited. The district panchayat president entered as an uninvited guest and hurled abuses at him. If there are complaints, it should be addressed in its own way. Anyone would find this insulting.

Naveen must have felt it. However, his cause of death should be investigated. The government should take this seriously and register the case and investigate. A senior government official has died. He is second in command after the collector. It is very painful that such a person has to end his life in this way,’ Sunny Joseph responded.

Meantime, Kannur district secretary M V Jayarajan refused to comment on Divya’s open criticism. He just said that he is sad on the death of the ADM. Following his transfer as Pathanamthitta ADM, Naveen Babu was given a sendoff yesterday under the leadership of the district collector. Divya came at the function and raised allegations of corruption against the ADM.

Divya accused him of corruption in giving permission to the petrol pump in Chengalai. She left the venue saying that Naveen Babu should not act like this in the place where he was going and that she doesn’t want to see presenting a memento to him. It is reported that Naveen Babu committed suicide because of the humiliation he faced.
