CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin reiterated that he won’t apologize for the hurtful comments made against Sanatana Dharma. Udayanidhi stated that his words were misinterpreted and claimed to have repeated what Periyar and Natarajan Annadurai stated decades back. He was speaking at a program organized for women.
"My comments were distorted and were put in a bad light. Not just in Tamil Nadu, many cases were registered all across the country. They wanted me to apologize but I have reiterated my stance. I am Kalaignar’s grandson and I won’t apologize."
Last September, Udayanidhi Stalin said that Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated like malaria and dengue.
“Dengue fever, malaria and COVID cannot be resisted but can only be eradicated. So is Sanatana Dharma. The whole concept is against social justice and equality.” Said Udayanidhi.
Big outrage erupted across the country with many including politicians demanding apology from the young scion. Even INDIA alliance members suggested Udhayanidhi apologize and get over the issue. However, the deputy CM was steadfast and rekindled outrage when he said he would continue to speak against Sanatana Dharma and condemn caste discrimination.
