PALAKKAD: B Shameer, former Palakkad district secretary of Anwar’s DMK party filed a nomination to contest as an independent in the by-polls. B Shameer’s relationship with Anvar strained after DMK decided to withdraw their Palakkad candidate after making a pact with UDF.

Shameer expressed discontent with Anvar’s unilateral decision to withdraw the Palakkad candidate. He also gave a sly hint about more than 100 workers exiting from DMK in the coming days.

“The unilateral decision to withdraw the Palakkad candidate distressed many party workers. Many will quit in the coming days. I gave the Thanking address at Anvar’s convention and he cannot belittle me. I was the district office-bearer since the formation of the party.” Said Shameer.

At the same time, Anvar lashed out at Shameer calling him a 'nobody' in DMK. Amidst the tension within DMK, former MLA Karat Razack visited Anvar on Saturday. Razack said he came to discuss with Anvar and said will soon decide on extending support to the Nilambur MLA.

“I’m now part of the left wing. Soon I will take a stand on whether to side up with Anvar or not” said Razack.
