PP Divya should be arrested; Collector's nod for resolution in district development committee

KANNUR: A resolution has been passed in the district development committee demanding the arrest of former district panchayat president PP Divya in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu. The collector gave permission for the resolution following protests by Congress members.

The Congress members demanded that a condolence resolution be moved on the demise of the ADM before the meeting begins. After the condolence resolution was moved, there was a demand to pass a resolution demanding the arrest of PP Divya. Koothuparamba MLA KP Mohanan, who attended the meeting, opposed it. With this, the meeting became turbulent.

The collector then agreed to include what was intended to be presented as a resolution, as part of the agenda. After the meeting, the collector said that the resolution in the district development committee will be brought to the notice of the government. The district development committee meeting was scheduled amidst rumours that district collector Arun K Vijayan, who is facing severe criticism over the death of Naveen Babu, may go on leave.
