Thalassery Ashraf murder case: Four RSS workers sentenced to life in prison

KANNUR: Four RSS workers have been sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder of CPM worker Ashraf in Thalassery. A hefty fine of Rs 50,000 has also been levied on them. The Thalassery Additional Sessions Court passed the sentence in the shocking murder that took place in 2011. The accused Pranu Babu, Nidhish, Shijil and Ujesh were convicted.

The Koothuparamba police filed a charge sheet against eight RSS workers. It was reported that the gang brutally hacked Ashraf to death over political enmity. Five and six accused MR Sreejith and P Bineesh were acquitted. The seventh and eighth accused, Shijin and Sujith, died before the trial.
