Five new judges in High Court

KOCHI: The President has issued an order appointing five judicial officers holding the position of District Judge as Additional Judges in Kerala High Court. P. Krishnakumar, K.V. Jayakumar, S. Murali Krishna, Jobin Sebastian, and P.V. Balakrishnan will take oath and assume office today. With this, the number of High Court Judges will increase to 45. After two years, they will become permanent Judges.

P Krishnakuar
High Court Registrar General. Selected as District Judge in 2012 with first rank. Served as Additional District Judge and Principal District Judge in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Also served as Local Self Government Department Tribunal Judge and Chairman of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple Administrative Committee. While serving Ernakulam NIA Court Judge, he delivered verdicts in notable cases including the Kanakamala terrorism case and diplomatic gold smuggling case.

While serving as Additional District Judge in Thiruvananthapuram, he sentenced notorious thief Bunty Chor to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. Also served as Kerala High Court Registrar (District Judiciary).

KV Jayakumar

Registrar (Vigilance) in the High Court. Became District Judge in 2012. Held the posts of Additional District Judge in Thalassery and Palakkad, Vigilance Judge in Kozhikode and Principal District Judge in Thalassery and Kollam.

S Murali Krishna
Kozhikode District Judge. Became District Judge in 2014. Also held positions as Additional District Judge in Kozhikode and Palakkad, and Principal District Judge in Manjeri.

Jobin Sebastian
Registrar (District Judiciary) in High Court. Became District Judge on March 14, 2014. Held various positions, including Additional District Judge in Thiruvananthapuram and Mavelikara, Vigilance Court Judge in Muvattupuzha and Principal District Judge in Thalassery and Alappuzha. Delivered verdicts in notable cases including the Karuvatta Jishnu murder case, Kallara Jasina Jewelry murder case, and Mavelikara petrol pump murder case, among others.

PV Balakrishnan
Serves as Principal District Judge in Thiruvananthapuram and Chairman of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple Administrative Committee. Appointed District Judge on March 14, 2014. Previously held positions as Additional District Judge in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Mavelikara, and Principal District Judge in Kasaragod.
