THRISSUR: A complaint has been filed against a private hospital for medical negligence following the death of a one-year-old boy. The dead is Adreesh, son of Vineesh of Chengallur. The baby taken to Vincent de Paul Hospital in Ollur for fever, died the other day. His relatives alleged that the baby was treated by a nurse without the presence of a pediatrician.

The boy’s mother took her child having slight fever to the hospital at around 4 pm the other day. The boy’s relative told media that Adreesh did not receive treatment from 4.30 pm to 9 pm. He added that the nurse came and told them that the baby has to be given drip but there is difficulty in finding a vein on him. After the boy started shivering and vomiting by 9 pm, the hospital directed them to shift the boy to the Jubilee Mission Hospital in Thrissur.

The baby was admitted to Jubilee Mission Hospital around 11 pm. The baby, who was being treated on ventilator, died later. The reference letter of Vincent de Paul Hospital, registered that the boy was given two medicines. However, the doctors who treated the baby at Jubilee Mission Hospital, said that these medicines were not administered to the boy. As per the instructions of the doctors, the baby's body has been shifted for post-mortem.

Meantime, Vincent de Paul Hospital's PRO Jeeson refuted the family's allegation. Jeeson said the pediatrician of the hospital directed to admit the boy.
