LUCKNOW: A video from the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral on social media, capturing devotees eagerly drinking water dripping from a sculpture of an elephant's head. Many devotees believed this water was ‘theertha’ – holy water from the feet of Lord Krishna – and were seen collecting it in their hands or glasses.

The video shows a long line of people waiting to receive the water but recent reports suggest it may not be holy water at all. According to a youth who visited the temple, the water could be condensation from the temple's air conditioning system and he warned others about potential health risks from drinking it. The visitor also cautioned that consuming AC water could lead to infections.

The video has sparked a range of responses online, with some users expressing frustration over the situation. Comments like, ‘This only happens in India’ and ‘Temple authorities should have warned the devotees,’ came under the video. Others, however, believe that such faith-driven actions should be respected. The temple authorities have yet to release an official statement on the matter.
