TVK chief Vijay contesting in two constituencies; announces candidates for first fight

CHENNAI: The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party leader and actor Vijay announced the names of the candidates contesting the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Party president Vijay is contesting from Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East. Vijay requested that voting for TVK candidates is like voting for him and urged everyone to make all the candidates win.

Perambur is a constituency known as the DMK stronghold. In the last election, the DMK candidate won from here with a majority of 54,976 votes. Tiruchirappalli, a constituency that came into existence in 2011, is also presently in the hands of the DMK. The DMK candidate won from here with a majority of 53,797 votes. In the previous two elections, AIADMK candidates won.


Vijay announced the names of the candidates, requesting that they be given a chance. Holding up the party symbol, the whistle, he said, ‘vote for whistle. This is the whistle revolution election.’ Vijay also asked that the injustices against him be answered. He also asked vote for the future of Tamil Nadu. Vijay's guarantees include Tamil Nadu without drugs and Rs 20 lakh for higher education. TVK is contesting alone, without being part of any major front, with the aim of becoming the chief minister, he said.
