NEW DELHI: Congress MP K Sudhakaran met Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday. He was accompanied by his family. AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal was also present at the meeting. Rahul Gandhi later shared pictures from the meeting on his social media pages.
'Met Sudhakaran ji and his family today along with Congress President Kharge ji and KC Venugopal ji. K Sudhakaran ji has spent a lifetime fighting for the people of Kerala- through every storm, every challenge, every test. He has the strength and loyalty of a true Congress soldier. The UDF is united and strong. We are heading towards a landslide victory with 100 seats in Keralam,' Rahul Gandhi wrote.
K Sudhakaran had earlier insisted on contesting from the Kannur Assembly constituency. However, the central leadership had taken a firm stand that sitting MPs should not contest the assembly election. There were reports that a disappointed Sudhakaran might leave the party. But just before the candidate announcement, he dismissed all such rumours and said he would remain firmly with the Congress. He later took part in campaign programs, including for Kannur candidate T O Mohanan. After attending a campaign event for Sunny Joseph in Peravoor yesterday, Sudhakaran left for Delhi this morning.
