THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in the Kerala state capital. Orange alert has been declared in Thiruvananthapuram. There is a possibility of heavy rains. By very heavy rainfall, IMD means that there will be 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm rainfall in the next 24 hours.
A yellow alert has been issued in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of moderate rain accompanied with lightning at isolated places over all districts of Kerala during the next three hours and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph.
A cyclonic circulation is located over the southeast Bay of Bengal. A low-pressure trough is located from the southeast Bay of Bengal to southern Tamil Nadu. Another cyclonic circulation is located in the southeast Arabian Sea. Therefore, there is a possibility of light rain accompanied by lightning in Kerala for the next five days, according to the Meteorological Department.
