Divya was protected by CPM; Collector insulted Naveen Babu's family, says K Surendran

PALAKKAD: BJP state president K Surendran said that PP Divya received bail from the court because of the help from the Home Department and the prosecution. He also accused the CPM of insulting Naveen Babu's family.

"It has become clear that Divya was protected by the CPM. The prosecution was not ready to counter the allegations raised against Naveen Babu's family by the defendant's counsel in the bail plea," Surendran said.

"The court ruled in favour of Divya because of the Collector's statement. This is a pathetic failure on the part of the government. The CPM staged a play using the Pathanamthitta district committee. Now why is the Pathanamthitta district committee remaining silent? MV Govindan's statement is a challenge to the public. On what basis is Govindan saying that Divya will correct herself? She should be expelled from the party. The party is trying to deceive people through the actions it announced against Divya," he said.

"The fact that the government provided legal assistance to the accused is a serious matter. The collector's action of insulting ADM's family is unacceptable. The opposition is supporting this. The result of the by-elections will be the people's verdict against the government's anti-human stance," Surendran added.
