Mishap during shunting operation; railway porter crushed to death while decoupling railway engine; visuals going viral

PATNA: A railway porter died after he was trapped between coaches during a shunting operation. The incident took place at Barauni junction in Bihar's Begusarai. The deceased has been identified as Amar Kumar Rao, who works as a porter at the station under the Sonpur railway division. He was working on the Lucknow-Barauni Express (No. 15204) which was coming from Lucknow Junction to platform number five of Barauni Junction when the accident took place.

Amar was trying to open the engine coupling when the train unexpectedly moved backwards. Meanwhile, Amar got stuck between two coaches. An alarm was immediately raised but Amar Kumar died on the spot. After the accident, the engine driver got down from the train and fled the scene. Visuals of the accident are being circulated on social media. The railway police have registered a case and started an investigation.
