
COIMBATORE: A bishop of Church of South (CSI) diocese was found dead after falling from a flyover during a morning walk. He has been identified as Bishop Jacob Livingston (56) of Erode-Salem CSI diocese. The incident happened Saturday morning while he was walking along the flyover adjacent to the Erode Government Hospital.
The bishop suddenly fell from the bridge onto the road. Although locals rushed him to the hospital, his life could not be saved. It is not clear whether he committed suicide or fell due to dizziness. Police said the body has been sent for postmortem. Reports say that the bishop was recently admitted to the hospital for health issues. The police have registered a case and started investigating the incident.
Jacob Livingston of Kangeyam in Tirupur district, took charge as the bishop of Erode-Salem Diocese on August 16, 2025. Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Kallakurichi districts comes under his jurisdiction. He leaves behind his wife Helena Amuda and daughter Johanna.
