THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The eminence and discipline of the Kerala cadre IAS, which is supposed to function as the driving force of governance, are in a state of disarray. However, the government is turning a blind eye towards the matter. A recent incident involves a junior officer making derogatory remarks against a senior officer on social media.

Taking to his social media page, Junior IAS officer N Prasanth stated that the report accusing him of neglecting his official duties was deliberately fabricated and that Additional Chief Secretary Jayathilak was behind its release to the media. Prasanth even mocked the senior office by describing him as "mentally ill."

The other day, it was reported that the files of Unnathi (Kerala Empowerment Society), which was created for the welfare and implementation of various projects for Scheduled Castes, had gone missing. Prasanth explained that he had handed over those files to the then-minister K Radhakrishnan. However, Prasanth had not mentioned this during the official investigation.

The report filed against Prasanth alleged that while working in that department, he had failed to attend office even for ten days a month and that he had submitted fake field reports to receive benefits. This report was submitted to the Chief Minister.

N Prasanth currently serves as the Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Department Secretary.

Recently, Kerala was shocked to hear a news report about a senior IAS officer, who serves as Industries Department Director, creating a religion-based WhatsApp group for IAS officers. He is claiming that his phone was hacked by someone. The government has not intervened in this matter as well. Meanwhile, Gopalakrishnan has been made the CEO of Unnathi instead of Prasanth.

  • There are 231 people in the Kerala cadre IAS
  • 142 IAS officers are currently in Kerala
