THANJAVUR: A complaint has been filed against the headmistress for taping the mouths of students, for talking in class. The parents of the students gave the complaint to Thanjavur district collector Priyanka Pankajam. The incident happened on October 21 at the government primary school in Ayyampatti.

The complaint said headmistress Punita taped the mouths of the fourth-class students for talking in the classroom and that blood came from one of the students' mouths. In addition, some other students experienced difficulty in breathing. It is reported that the pictures of the incident were sent to the parents by a teacher at the school.

After receiving the complaint, the collector assigned the district education department to investigate the incident. The investigation found that no such incident had taken place. 'On October 21, the teacher had asked a student to look after the classroom in her absence. The teacher has no role in the incident. The students taped each other's mouths. However, a detailed investigation will be conducted into the matter,' said the district education officer.

Denying the allegations. Punita said that she has nothing to do with the incident. The students playfully did this and someone took the photos and circulated it.
