THRISSUR: DMK leader PV Anvar alleged that LDF, UDF and BJP were trying to secure votes by illegally giving money and liquor to voters. Speaking at a press conference in Chelakkara, Anvar said that Rs 25 lakhs was seized from Cheruthuruthy where the Chief Minister's son-in-law was camping.

"In colonies, slips are distributed in envelopes. There is money inside the envelope. The Left Front is paying the money. They are distributing not only money but also liquor. The other day, a CPM leader and a Congress leader asked me why I was walking in the sun in the colonies. All three fronts are planning to secure votes by giving money and liquor. I have lodged a complaint with the Election Commission," Anvar said.

In the meantime, police and Election Commission officials arrived at the spot and interrupted the press conference. The officials said that holding a press conference on the eve of elections violates electoral rules. Although the officials issued a notice, Anvar continued with the press conference. Election Commission officials said that they will soon take further action in the press conference.

The police had earlier issued a ban on PV Anvar's press conference. The press conference was held at a private hotel in Chelakkara. The other day, Anvar had announced on Facebook that he would reveal some crucial information that people need to know at the press conference.
