MUMBAI: The police have released some crucial information in the murder case of Baba Siddique, former minister of Maharashtra and NCP leader. Shiv Kumar Gautam, the main accused told police that he waited outside the Lilavati Hospital where Siddique was undergoing treatment to ascertain if he had died or survived the attack.

The accused stood in the crowd outside the hospital wearing a new shirt; after changing the one he had worn at the time of the shooting. He left the place after knowing that his condition was serious.

Shiv Kumar had earlier revealed to the police that he had communicated with the brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Anmol Bishnoi had directed Shiv Kumar to kill Baba Siddique or his son Zeeshan. The directive given was to shoot the first person seen.

The police also said that Anmol had told Shiv Kumar that this murder was for the sake of God and society. Anmol, who is presently believed to be in Canada, is on the National Investigation Agency's most wanted list.

Shiv Kumar (23) later fled to Pune and proceeded to Lucknow. He was arrested near the Nepal border in UP on November 10. The police had arrested four namely Anurag Kashyap, Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Akash Srivastava and Akhilendra Pratap Singh for arranging his accommodation and for helping him cross to Nepal.

66-year-old Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12 at 9.11 pm at Bandra in Mumbai. He was rushed to the hospital with two bullet injuries on his chest but his life could not be saved.
