THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: EP Jayarajan, who has been continuously putting the CPM on the defensive through controversies, is likely to be removed from the party's central and state committees. According to sources close to the party, the decision regarding this will be taken at the CPM state conference to be held in Kollam in March and the Party Congress to be held in Madurai in April. The CPM state secretariat which will meet today is likely to seek an explanation from EP regarding the controversy surrounding his autobiography. It is said that EP will also attend the meeting today.
Although EP Jayarajan is claiming that he has nothing to do with the information that came out the other day and that there was a conspiracy involved, the party has not taken him into full confidence. This is the second time EP has placed the party in a difficult position on a crucial day of voting. Many of the leaders are of the opinion that the party will suffer further setbacks if EP Jayarajan continues in the central and state committees. The party is also likely to seek an explanation from Raghunath, the Kannur bureau chief of the party's newspaper, whom EP had tasked with editing his autobiography for clarity. He will be asked to explain how excerpts from the autobiography came out.
EP Jayarajan will turn 75 years old on May 28. It is believed that he might be removed from the central and state committees citing this reason. There is intense resentment within the party against EP who is seen as providing weapons to the enemies. Severe criticism is being raised against the veteran leader in the area committee meetings.
EPs argument holds no weight
1. The party’s assessment is that EP's claim that he will release the autobiography with the party's consent holds no weight. The criticism is that EP has already achieved his objective by bringing everything he wanted to say into the public domain.
2. EP Jayarajan has lodged a complaint with the DGP accusing DC Books of releasing information which were not written by him. However, EP has not given a clear reply on whether he would assign the same publishing house to publish his autobiography
3. Although EP has given a complaint to the DGP demanding a probe into the conspiracy against him, has not demanded the registration of a criminal case against DC Books.
