THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan stated that the controversy surrounding the autobiography of EP Jayarajan has had no effect on the upcoming by-election. He dismissed the issue as a fabrication and emphasized that the party is not conducting an internal probe. However, Govindan acknowledged that a legal investigation should take its course.
Speaking at a press conference, Govindan clarified that no contract was signed with DC Books by Jayarajan. "EP himself has stated that he did not write the book. This is a baseless controversy and the party has full confidence in him. We reject these allegations outright. Let the legal system handle the complaint filed by EP against the DGPC," he said.
Govindan also criticized central agencies for their inaction in the Kodakara money-laundering case. Shifting focus to political dynamics, he predicted a strong performance by the LDF in Palakkad, suggesting the BJP could fall to third position due to a crisis within the Congress. "Congress leaders leaving the party have hinted at an alliance with the BJP. This has created a situation favorable for the LDF to gain control in Palakkad," he added.
Turning to the issue of disaster relief, Govindan criticized the BJP-led central government for neglecting Kerala during major calamities. Referring to the severe floods in Wayanad, he said, "Although the Prime Minister visited and announced aid, no significant help was provided. If it had been declared a national disaster, Kerala would have received substantial assistance. States with less severe disasters have been given more aid, showcasing the Centre's biased approach."
He also accused the UDF and BJP of working against Kerala's interests. "Their opposition to the salary challenge during the floods and their united efforts to undermine the state government show their lack of concern for the people. The LDF, however, remains committed to Kerala's welfare," Govindan concluded.
